Forest Rugby in the Community
Forest Rugby is dedicated to making a difference in our community. Our charity partners are carefully selected with two main criteria in mind. We target charities that dedicate themselves to supporting the vulnerable and helping to cause change in areas of social importance plus ensuring our funds can be dedicated to programs directly operating in our local community. Whilst no doubt Rugby is a key focus of the Club, the Committee is passionate about its role and responsibility to contribute more broadly to our community and society in general.
Since its inception in 2013, the Forest Rugby Charity Day has gone from strength to strength in ensuing years and it is something that every person associated with the Club should be immensely proud off. We set our sights high and are constantly amazed by the broad participation from everyone in the Forest Rugby community and beyond.
We have partnered with some wonderful Charities over many years and have now raised and donated over $100,000 to very worthy causes. In the words of the local member for Manly, Mr James Griffin BA MP, at a recognition ceremony after the 2017 event, the level of dedication and support shown by the Forest Rugby Club is unprecedented in our community and absolutely sets us apart from other sporting clubs in the district. Notably, Peter Fitzsimmons has also publicly commented that the Forest Rugby Club is a “powerhouse of charitable ventures.” He added….”Bravo to the lot of them. I ask: is there a sporting club, even among the professionals, that can match that level of generosity to the community?”
