About Mini Rugby

At Forest we like to think of ourselves as the Family Club.  We focus on providing a fun environment for players and parents alike. Our goal is to provide a fun and enjoyable environment for kids whilst teaching the basics of Rugby.

Mini Rugby is a modified non-competitive game for Under 6 to Under 9 girls and boys. Teams consist of 7 to 10 players although equal numbers are required on the field from both teams.

U6 & U7 age groups play two handed tag, with no tackling or scrums.
U8 & U9 age groups introduce tackling plus non-competitive scrums and lineouts.

We do not grade our Mini teams. Instead we focus on friendship, fun and enjoyment over results.

Minis Information

Minis rugby is played on Saturdays between 8am and 1pm and is always against northern beaches clubs. The Minis Rugby season has been revised due to COVID restrictions currently set to run for 9 rounds from Saturday 1st August until Saturday 19th of September.

Our Under 6, 7, 8 & 9 teams have commenced training again under our COVID 19 Safety Management Plan. Training Times and Field Allocations are available here.

We will be fielding teams in each of the following mini age groups in 2019:

U6 – 4 to 6 year olds
U7 – 6 & 7 year olds
U8 – 7 & 8 year olds
U9 – 8 & 9 year olds
